Last weekend Mark Gillespie & Thomas Drost were back in Town. For some years the two friendly musicians come back to Bonn regularly to play on the streets or to perform a concert, for example at Harmonie, Bonn’s small but very popular live modern music venue and pub.
Saturday, 02 and Sunday, 03 October the two very active buskers performed again on various attractive places in the city to make new musical friends and to promote the upcoming concert of Mark Gillespie Band & Ezio at Brückenforum on Friday, November 26.
Mark sat enthroned on a small mobile trailer stage with his guitar and electronic hand drum, while Thomas the flute player, sat down close beside him on a folding chair. Because of the annual 2day city festival the town centre was very busy. The duo clearly know how to attract and hold a crowd. A lot of people took the opportunity to stop and listen for a long time – many even stayed until last call – to their soft swinging mellow songs and ballads, most of them composed by Mark Gillespie himself. The people clearly appreciated what Mark Gillespie & Thomas Drost were doing. After the sessions many came up and thanked them, said they liked their music, gave them a well-deserved fee, or bought a cd. Mark Gillespie & Thomas Drost that’s street music at its best.
